Here is a rowhouse I saw for sale on Craig’s list. It is going for $378,000 and is a 3 bedroom 1 and a half bath located on Upshur. And it is a “very clean brick home”. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a home listing that mentioned “very clean” in it before. But I suppose that is a good thing. Does that cost extra?

All you chocolate lovers out there are going to be super psyched. Located at 1529 14th Street, ACKC is going to rock your world. As you can see the place is just stacked with chocolate everywhere. They even have a chocolate beverage station and a nice seating area. They offer premium truffles, creams, caramels, nutclusters, fudge and lots more. Prices vary but a single truffle goes for $1.95 so I imagine we are talking about very high quality here. Let me know what you think when you check it out. See more photos after the jump. (more…)

Whah? 14U which I always thought was called FourteenU Coffee shop, located at the corner of 14th and U, is actually called one for U coffee shop which I guess makes more sense. But anyway I just noticed that they now offer Salsa lessons which just seems really bizarre to me. It is a very small space, but I guess that’s cool. Maybe next month they’ll have free bonsai tree sculpting lessons. I mean that would make just as much sense, no? Has anyone taken the Salsa lessons? I’m still nursing a nagging breakdancing injury but I’ll have to check it out when I’ve recovered…

I dare you to look at this album cove and not smile. If only all the trash I encountered was this cool.

Someone asked last week what a light tower looked like. Well, this is it. I spotted this one on Girard St., which has been the home to a few shootings so hopefully this is helping.

Look no further than Beveragemania on Upshur. Let me add another note about Beveragemania here. They are awesome! They are the nicest most friendly proprietors I’ve ever encountered. They treat you like you are a part of the family. I was taking this photo and one of the workers came out and said, “c’mon would you like a coffee, a cup of tea?”. But in such a friendly, it’s hard to explain. Anyway, if you need a quick egg nog to go you know where to get it.
The article starts “Long before Columbia Heights became one of the hottest development sites, before its Metro station opened and before D.C. officials announced a $149 million plan to build a neighborhood mall with a Target and other big-box stores, Maria Zuniga lived at 1458 Columbia Road NW.”

Thanks to a reader for sending in this awesome photo. This is a row of cement trucks on the 800 block of Taylor on their way to laying the foundation for the Yes! Organic Market.
Is the proposed development of the Old Soldier’s Home going to completely change the character of Petworth as we know it? Petworth News has a good graphic on the proposed development. I too wish there would be more park land designated. But is all the development going to be bad? What if they bring another Dunkin Donuts with them? Or maybe it will help attract a movie theater. I’ve always thought Columbia Heights would be perfect for a movie theater, a nice small one that shows independent films. Sorry I was just dreaming for a second. So, what are your thoughts on the proposed development in the Old Soldier’s Home now that it is coming closer to reality?

I waked by this sculpture off of 14th St. on Belmont. You can see the plaque describing the inspiration after the jump. (more…)
