Or maybe not so random. Have you noticed that the guy handing out the Express at the Petworth Metro has been shirking his duties lately? Now don’t me wrong, I really like him, he’s always been very friendly. I’ve just found over the last week or so he now leaves a stack of papers on the floor near the escalator instead of handing them out. I realize I am being profoundly lazy complaining about having to bend over to pick up a paper but he used to hand them out. Maybe I’m being ridiculous and he is just having an off couple of days? How are the Express guys at Columbia Heights Metro? At my terminal stop they are super nice and the Examiner guy too.

Unless they are French Socialists. I like the French Socialists. Allez Ségolène Royal!

This has got to be one of the most depressing looking schools I’ve ever seen from the outside. It’s looks like a defunct factory or something. I think the powers that be from the school should authorize some murals for the walls to at least give it a modicum of humanity. Maybe it’s nice on the inside…

I really like the tower up top. I wonder if it was ever functional. Or you know if you could at least put a seat up there and have a cup of coffee.

These numbers are wild and came out pretty good in the picture. But when you walk up to them you can’t really tell what numbers they are they just look like random circles close up. Only from a few feet away can you actually make out the numbers. What’s even cooler is that when I was close up and stared at the circles for a while I also finally saw a unicorn…and a spaceship.

I kind of like how the leaves on the ground look they fell from the trees in the mural.

Just awesome. I’d imagine stairs like these are super expensive to install now a days, right?

I love these Mediterranean style roofs. Do they work as well as other style roofs? How come we don’t see more of these?
Don’t forget the good folks at Red Derby, located at 3718 14th Street, have been gracious enough to host the next PoP hour a week from today. To mark the occasion there will be $1 off rail and wine drinks plus the usual fantastic beer selection. This will be a pretty mellow event and I expect most people will show up between 7 and 8 pm. If you missed out last time I still have plenty of PoP t-shirts available ($10) and they are pretty sweet… But the fun of it is to just meet some of your neighbors and folks from near by neighborhoods and shoot the shit a bit. It’d be great if you could make it.
