This year, there’s also a pickleball option! No matter which game you choose, you’ll be making a big difference for DC students and their teachers.

826DC offers free writing workshops, homework help, and publishing projects for DC students ages 6-18, in their Columbia Heights writing center and in learning spaces across the city.

Hi, I’m Megan, the owner of People’s Book, an independent bookstore voted Washington City Paper’s Best in DC. I’m also the mom of two young kiddos, and a former teacher and reading coach in DC.

My favorite thing to do is find the right book for the right kid at the right time. That’s why I’m launching our first ever children’s book subscription program where you can expect 1-2 high quality books delivered to you (or a child you love!) for $20 per month. The perfect gift for a birthday, baby shower… or just because!

We want to preserve affordable housing in our wonderful but increasingly unaffordable neighborhood – and make it possible for regular people to be able to purchase a home here for decades to come.

The Tenant Association at 1845 Summit Pl NW is exercising our rights from the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA), a unique DC law that gives us the chance to buy our 88-unit building. Together, we decided to turn our building into an innovative model of affordable housing: a limited-equity co-op. This keeps units affordable forever, a critical intervention in our diverse and increasingly unaffordable neighborhood.

On January 25th, we invite you to experience the magic of Galette des Rois, a 700-year-old tradition celebrated across France throughout the entire month of January (and even beyond!). This sweet, almond-filled puff pastry topped with a golden crown isn’t just a treat—it’s a celebration! The lucky person who finds the fève (a porcelain charm hidden in one of the slices) becomes the King or Queen for the Day, and don’t worry—there will be plenty of royalty to go around! 👑✨
