Coolest Pet in PoPville Entries #107, #108, #109, #110, #111, #112, #113 and #114

Mehitabelsmall

“Meet Mehitabel. She was born in PoPville, and has lived her entire life here.

In December 2007, at the age of 5 months or so, she walked in the front door, having tired of living on the very cold streets with her mother (now spayed, but still on the street) and sisters (some in, some out, and all now spayed.)

She quickly made friends with Mr Kitty http://www.princeofpetworth.com/2008/08/coolest-pet-in-popville-31-32-and-33/ who is now sadly gone, and made herself right at home inside. She doesn’t like outside any more, although she does enjoy sitting in the window. She is death to bugs and catnip. She likes to have her head scratched. And like Don Marquis’s Mehitabel the tabby cat, she believes that she is Cleopatra reincarnated.”

DSCN3248

“Meet Cladius the guinea pig. Weighing in at 2.2 lbs, he likes:

– carrots.
– a stuffed bunny named ‘buns-is-pigs.’
– hiding.

“Clads,” adopted from Montgomery County Humane Society, dislikes:

– his monthly bath.
– circling hawks.
– South American cuisine.”

Snoop and Jackson

“This is Snoop Dogg and his little brother, Jackson. I know there’s two of them in the entry, but they are brothers and are NEVER apart. These two are best friends, yet couldn’t be more different. Ebony and Ivory. Snoop is older, more refined. He prefers a nice scotch on the rocks and likes to read the Encyclopedia Britannica. Jackson, on the other hand, is still a puppy and likes loud parties, PBR, and being the center of attention. Together they like to play scrabble, balance stuff on their heads, eat, pull their humans on skateboards, go to the beach and swim, and chase after tennis balls. They live the good life and are the coolest pets in popville, for sure.”

Ed. Note:  Submissions have been closed.  No more entries will be accepted at this point. Sorry for the confusion – all pets received before the deadline will be posted, of course. No NEW submissions will be accepted.

The cats are not competing against the dogs.  There will be 5 dog, cat and “other” finalists that will each compete in their own category.  We’ll have a poll in each category to select the winner.  Using the comments section for these posts will help me select the 5 finalists for each category. You can see all the entries here. Please see after the jump for more entries.

Chloe dash board ornament

“Chloe’s utility as a dashboard ornament makes her the coolest cat in PoPville. Why have a plastic hula dancer when you can have a cat?”

Abbey WF tshirt 2

“Abbey, why the long face? Her beloved Demon Deacons just lost to their arch-rival Duke. So if you love Wake Forest, just love to hate Duke or love dogs in human t-shirts, Abbey is your girl for coolest dog in PoPville.”

Lola

“This is Lola my two year old German Shephard/Collie mix. Lola is so sweet, she loves playing frisbee, taking naps with you, bringing you toys, running away with your things and meeting every dog she can. She’s extremely smart and agile, which has led to some interesting times. Everyone knows Lola by her crazy antics; leaping up on a 5 foot high table to greet people, leaping out of a moving car to chase a frisbee, jumping off porches, being able to open things (doors, drawers, anything that is closed) and inspect/eat objects found inside, burping loudly when we have guests over. She always keeps us on our toes ready to play and we always have fun.”

wrigley

“Wrigley barks at people/other animals when they won’t play with him.
I think he has psychic powers.
And
…until things are brighter, he’s the man in black…”

minnie

“Minnie hates that I dressed her up for Halloween – I promise that I won’t do it again!
She is the most loving dog I have ever owned/known…
It was very common for her to sleep by my face and be looking at me as I awoke in the morning (back when I let her sleep in the bed with me).”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
