Named for National Highway 48—the iconic road connecting Delhi and Mumbai—N.H. 48 celebrates the rich culinary traditions found along one of India’s most famous routes. Inspired by the states, cultures and regional specialties encountered along the way, the restaurant takes guests on a culinary journey through the vibrant flavors, roadside favorites and home-cooked dishes that have shaped generations.
Co-founders Prady Rana and Bhakti More bring years of hospitality experience and a shared passion for authentic Indian cuisine and genuine guest connection to N.H. 48. As first-generation immigrants, the pair drew on their own experiences building careers in the restaurant industry to shape the restaurant’s identity, culture and approach to hospitality. Their backgrounds include experience with acclaimed hospitality groups including Fabio Trabocchi Restaurants, Knightsbridge Restaurant Group and STARR Restaurants.
The culinary team, whose experience includes The Bombay Club and Taj Group Hotels, has created a menu reflecting the diverse cuisines found along National Highway 48 and the regions connecting Delhi and Mumbai.
Guests can begin with dishes including Pani Puri, crisp semolina shells filled with spiced potatoes and tangy herb-infused water; Vada Pav, Mumbai’s iconic spiced potato slider; Patra ni Machchi, fish wrapped in banana leaves with vibrant cilantro-mint chutney and gently steamed; Chicken Lollipop, crispy frenched chicken wings tossed in a spicy Indo-Chinese sauce; and Prawn Koliwada, a Mumbai favorite of crispy fried prawns marinated with garlic and bold spices.
Signature dishes include Mutton Ghee Roast, a rich, slow-cooked goat preparation from coastal Karnataka made with ghee, roasted chilies and aromatic spices, and Dahi Ke Kebab, delicate pan-seared patties made with hung yogurt, herbs and spices.
Vegetarian offerings include Dal Makhani, Halloumi Saag, Kadhai Paneer and Eggplant Bharta, complemented by fresh-baked naan, traditional breads and classic Indian desserts including Gulab Jamun and Rasmalai. “As first-generation immigrants, we wanted to create a restaurant that feels like home—not just for us, but for our guests,” said founders Prady Rana and Bhakti More. “Food has always been our connection to family, community and belonging. N.H. 48 is our way of sharing those traditions through honest food, genuine hospitality and a welcoming table where everyone feels at home.”
Designed as a neighborhood gathering place, N.H. 48 Indian Kitchen brings together food, culture and hospitality in a setting where stories can be shared and guests are encouraged to explore the many regional flavors of India.”
