HouseMouse Books is excited to announce the debut of Escape the Bookshop IV, our brand new limited-run escape room experience.
Escape the Bookshop games are always based on a real crime with connections to the DC region. They are designed and built by HouseMouse Books to be played in our atmospheric bookshop. This latest game was inspired by a true local museum theft and the goal is simple – to find the stolen object before the suspect flees the country!
Bookings are now open for game dates in September 2026 through March 2027. The game takes place most Friday and Saturday evenings but special arrangements can be made upon request via email at [email protected].
It is designed to be played by a group of 3 to 8 people (ages 16+) and lasts for one hour. No prior escape room experience is needed to enjoy the game – we can customize the experience for beginner, intermediate, or advanced players.

HouseMouse is a small used bookshop located in the heart of Takoma Park, MD at 6919 Laurel Ave. It resides within Laurel Leaf – a plants, books, and vintage decor shop that opened in March 2025.
Our regular store hours are: Tuesday-Thursday: 11 AM- 6 PM, Friday-Saturday: 11 AM – 7 PM, and Sunday 10 AM – 4 PM.
