Murph Challenge

Memorial Day “Murph” at Urban Athletic Club

This Memorial Day Weekend, Urban Athletic Club will host “Murph”—a time-honored Hero workout performed around the country to remember and reflect.

“Murph” is named for Lt. Michael P. Murphy, U.S. Navy SEAL, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005 during Operation Red Wings and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.

Murph has become a powerful Memorial Day Weekend tradition: not a competition, but a shared challenge that reminds us why the day matters. At UAC, we’ll honor that purpose the best we can—professionally coached, community-driven, and scaled for every athlete.

Whether it’s your first Murph or your tenth, you’ll have a clear plan, smart options for every movement, and a room full of DC’s hardest-working people getting it done together.

What to expect

• A coached warm-up + briefing on the meaning of Murph and why we do it on MDW

• The classic Murph structure (run + pull/push/squat + run), with scaling options for all levels.

• Smart ways to partition reps, modify movements, and/or adjust volume so everyone can participate safely

• A supportive UAC atmosphere—focused, respectful, and high-energy
