The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is trying to quietly get away with constructing a new $300 million headquarters for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) right here in our city on the St. Elizabeth’s campus in Congress Heights. This facility was initially scheduled to be completed in 2027 and will serve as a hub for an agency that has carried out violent, terroristic behavior against foreign and U.S.-born residents alike nationwide.
Now is the time for the people of D.C. to come together and say: we will not accept more money and resources going towards this agency and we will not allow for an ICE headquarters to become an occupying force in our city.
