From Pepco:
“Pepco is monitoring the forecast closely, and our crews and local contractors are prepared to respond.
What we’re doing:
Increasing staffing and preparing field crews, contractors, and tree‑trimming teams.
Adding customer care representatives to support emergency and outage calls.
Ready to request additional support from other Exelon utilities if needed.
Crews will work around the clock to restore service safely and quickly.
What customers should do
Prepare an emergency kit with flashlights, batteries, water, non‑perishable food, medications, and key phone numbers.
Use generators safely—never indoors and never connected directly to home wiring.
Customers relying on life‑support equipment should enroll in our Emergency Medical Equipment Notification Program at pepco.com/EMENP..
If an outage occurs
Report outages or downed wires by calling 1‑877‑PEPCO‑62, using the Pepco mobile app, or visiting pepco.com/storm.
Text “Out” to 48710 (after enrolling by texting “ADD OUTAGE”).
Stay away from downed wires and assume they are energized.
Restoration priorities
Pepco’s restoration priorities begin with public safety and essential services, including 911 centers, hospitals, and pumping stations. After addressing downed live wires or other life‑threatening hazards, crews focus on restoring service to the greatest number of customers as quickly and safely as possible.
Once immediate safety issues are resolved, crews work on transmission lines that serve thousands of customers and substation equipment that impacts large areas. They then move to main distribution lines serving neighborhoods, followed by secondary lines. After major system repairs are complete, crews begin restoring service lines to individual homes and businesses. Thank you for your patience as we prepare for this weather event and work to keep our system safe and reliable.”
