Grift The Rich Opened Their New Space at the Bottom of Adams Morgan

“Alaska/DC🌜Reclaimed curio from the recently departed🌛Stylist sessions mon-fri by appt + walk-ins welcome Sat & Sun 11-5 most weekends”

Last weekend they launched their new space:

1930 18th Street, NW

Grift the Rich had previously announced:

“I’m sure many do you saw the news that D.C. decided to discontinue its streetery program earlier this week. Out of the 33 streeteries currently in Adams Morgan, only 3 will be staying behind and sadly – Bar Charley’s in its current capacity won’t be one of them.

I’m forever grateful to Goodbar Restaurant Group for use of the space. It’s how the shop was born and how I met most of you (my favorite part) so definitely keep stopping by @barcharley for tasty cocktails.

While all good things come to an end, I have a huge news.

GRIFT THE RICH IS GETTING A BRICK AND MORTAR!!

The permanent indoor shop is coming very soon and will be right up the street from Bar Charley!”

And perusing their awesome IG, I thought this post from a couple of years ago had a really nice perspective:

“This weekend the shop surpassed 1,000 individual sales and with that, I want to take a moment to talk about the “Why” of Grift the Rich.

After attending what has to be 100+ estate sales across the country over the past 2.5 years there are a few things I’ve learned:

✨Use the good silver. The amount of homes I’ve entered that had the fine china locked away in a cabinet for a moment that never arrived is far more common that you’d think.
✨Regardless of what you eat, how well you treat your body or your strength in faith, death will come for you too. Chances are that when it does, strangers will end up sifting through your earthly possessions. Think about the most precious material goods you own, someday they may get to be someone else’s new favorite thing. There is beauty in that.
✨Buying yourself little treats feels good but it won’t bring you happiness if you’re not doing the work in the other parts of your life. My school bus full of bric-a-brac and funky clothing brings me so much joy but it doesn’t hold a candle to the feeling of sitting in a room full of my favorite people.
✨That art you wanted to create, the trip you wanted to take – do it. Growing old is a privilege and not everyone is lucky enough to do so.
✨The homes that hold the most magic don’t look perfect. People who love you don’t give a shit if your furniture is outdated or the things you collect are a little weird. If you like it – keep it.
✨Objects hold a story. What is it about a set of glasses or a sweater that draws you in? Does it remind you of someone you love? Is there a moment you remember it being around in your childhood? Does wearing it make you feel like a million bucks? Vintage is a way to create a space and style that is truly your own and in a very serious world, how cool is that?

All of this has been a long winded way of saying that the point of Grift the Rich is to do something that I love with the time that I have. What a gift that finding unique goods for interesting people makes splitting a life between the two communities I love a possibility.

Thank you for being a part of it.”

Ed. Note: Now go get something you don’t really need but looks awesome!!
