From a press release:
“Ruairi Deburca, Jacob Schoonover, and Ashley Lee are teaming up to open The Harp Cask and Kiln (The Harp), a modern Irish pub opening in Brookland on Friday, October 24. Located at 3126 12th Street NE in the former home of Brookland’s Finest, The Harp builds on the legacy of the popular neighborhood gathering place while introducing a new concept focused on quality food and well-made drinks with Irish influences, and welcoming hospitality. Deburca oversees operations, with Schoonover leading the beverage program and Lee heading the kitchen.
The trio previously worked together at Capitol Hill bourbon bar Barrel and share a commitment to hospitality and neighborhood culture. The Harp features 66 seats indoors and 26 on the patio, along with nine TVs throughout the space for guests who want to catch a match or unwind.
Deburca, a native of Ireland’s Cork County, draws on his roots and years behind the bar to bring Irish warmth and character to DC. “In Ireland, the local pub isn’t just where you go for a drink; it’s the heart of the community,” says Deburca. “That’s what we want The Harp to be. A comfortable, familiar place where guests can enjoy good food, a proper pint, and great company.”
The menu blends traditional Irish comfort with modern influences, featuring dishes such as Shepherd’s Pie Croquettes, Fish & Chips, and Ox Tongue Pie, alongside plates like The Harp Burger and Roasted Cauliflower. The bar program highlights Guinness on tap, an extensive Irish whiskey list, and a cocktail menu that combines classic technique with house-made ingredients.
Many of the drinks feature names in Irish, more commonly known as Gaelic, with English translations in parentheses, including Bosca Ahmhail (The Confession Box) made with Kinsale Gin, blackberry, and citrus; Luí na Gréine (Irish Sunset) with tequila, white port, and spiced grenadine; and Folláin (Health) with Dingle Vodka, carrot, and ginger honey. Each drink reflects the creativity and craft Schoonover brings to The Harp’s beverage program.
Grand Opening: Friday, October 24, 2025 | Doors open at 3 p.m.”
