breakfastnook2

So what do readers think about breakfast nooks? I rather like them and this one looks particularly nice—I love the cabinets above the counter. But despite the aesthetic appeal they can really close up a kitchen, which can make the socializing while cooking difficult. How do others feel?

$2,650 for a two bedroom, two bath “boutique” condo on 14th and Harvard, right near Meridian Hill Park (which, as PoP pointed out http://www.princeofpetworth.com/?p=2935, now has its fountains filled). It’s a great area if you want the pizzazz of Columbia Heights, but still want a block that’s relatively quiet. This one also features an outdoor balcony and private garage parking—always a plus.

I find it interesting that the exterior shot is taken at night. I’ve rarely seen that done before. Maybe they did that to bring notice to what looks like a lighted sign above the entrance? More rentals after the jump.

semi-detached3

The semi-detached row houses are quite a find, as by the very nature of the row house they’re low in supply. I also really like the color paint they used for the walls and molding. The kitchen is particularly nice—yellow walls and red cabinets. (But it seems the inside of the house will be painted over before new residents move in—I wonder if they’ll keep the same colors?)

$3,500 for a four bedroom, two bath on New Hampshire and Park. There’s also a home theater in the attic bedroom with 52” LCD TV and built-in speakers and off street parking with an automatic gate. It’s available August 1st.

brick2

Ah, exposed brick. It makes any room instantly classy. I particularly like the living room/foyer (?) with the fire place (doesn’t look like it has a gas hook up but maybe it doesn’t show up in the picture). So it looks like this rental doesn’t need much help in the class department—the hardwood floors are brilliant and shining and the kitchen looks newly renovated. Also comes with a Jacuzzi!

$3,300 for a three bedroom, 2.5 bath in Columbia Heights on 13th and Otis. The building also has a porch and rear patio.

The following two rentals are oldies but goodies—rentals I’ve written about in the past and are still available for rent:

Oldie1

Love the Mount Pleasant farmer’s market? Then this looks like a great place for you—The Park Regent (1701 Park Road, NW) is located across the street from the beautiful park where the Mt. Pleasant market is held every Saturday during the nicer seasons. There are some studio apartments available here for about $945—a pretty decent price, imo, to live in the heart of one of the prettiest neighborhoods in the District. Plus you’re not far away from the best of Columbia Heights and Adams Morgan, and it looks like the location can’t be beat for great access to the bus lines if you want to branch out (but, of course, why would you ever need to?) (Note: the original rental price was $985.)

Oldie2

This one comes in twos and rocks for the extras. A $2,200 two bedroom, two bathroom, two entrance, two level condo on Randolph and 13th (not too far from the Columbia Heights metro). The extras include utilities…and furniture! The place is fully furnished, not to mention a 62 inch LCD television that can be part of the rental deal. There are few places I know that can boast that.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
