The countdown to the opening of The Swift at Petworth Metro is over. The new 218-unit, LEED Silver apartment community on Georgia Avenue NW in Petworth is now offering studios, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedrooms — all with Clean Steel appliances, full-size Energy Star washers and dryers, eco-friendly wood-style plank flooring, energy efficient windows, and sustainable quartz countertops. The smoke-free community is pet-friendly and bike-friendly, and features electric car charging stations in the secure garage as well as Zipcar parking. There’s a concierge team to help residents feel at home 24 hours a day.

The Swift held its grand opening, where guests took a tour of the building and enjoyed a Friday night happy hour, a BBQ on Saturday, and a champagne brunch on Sunday. Guests had a chance to check out The Swift’s many features — the apartments, clubroom, rooftop terrace, fitness center, Tech Bar with iMac computers, and courtyard. The rooftop terrace features five seating areas, 2 grilling stations with prep areas, a fire pit, and 270-degree views of DC.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
