“Dear PoPville,
Seen (September 20th) at River Terrace Park in SE DC: Trash from two entire cookout parties abandoned on site. I saw evidence they can polish off a tray of barbecue, but somehow lack the ability to clean up after themselves. Hardly an attempt to put things in trash bags.
Those who can’t take pride in their community don’t deserve the resources it offers.
A passerby who lives in the neighborhood stopped and said this is a weekly occurrence. And because it is NPS land,
the city doesn’t intervene, and resources are lacking for cleanup. Members of the neighborhood band together to clean it up themselves.
How can those responsible be held accountable?
