“South Block’s journey began with a simple mission: to bring people together through good vibes and awesome food. Founder Amir Mostafavi grew up in Northern Virginia, where his parents owned local video stores—an early lesson in the power of community and connection.
After noticing a lack of fresh juice and smoothie options in the D.C. area, Amir opened his first juice bar, Campus Fresh, in 2006 at George Washington University. Over the next five years, he honed his craft, built meaningful relationships, and laid the foundation for what would become South Block.
In 2011, South Block was born. Guided by the belief that small acts of kindness can create big impact, the brand quickly became a beloved neighborhood staple. In the years that followed, South Block expanded to new “blocks,” continuing to share its positive energy and fresh, handcrafted offerings—like authentic acai bowls, smoothies, and more—one block at a time.
Our Mission at South Block is making people feel awesome one block at a time by spreading good vibes and fresh food.
We’re here to brighten your day, uplift your week, and maybe even change your life. We believe the positive energy we put into the world ripples outward, creating real impact.
Whether it’s through kind words, a delicious smoothie, a tasty acai bowl, or supporting local causes, we’re here to remind you of one thing:
You’re awesome,
and YOU ROCK!”
STAY TUNED for an opening date in Tenleytown.
