From a press release:
“Three Whistles DC, a thoughtfully designed space to eat, drink, work and gather, will officially celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday, February 25. Designed as a modern third space, Three Whistles brings together a flexible workspace, an all-day café and espresso bar, evening dining and bar service, and a future slate of cultural programming under one roof. Founded in Clarendon, Virginia, the first Three Whistles location quickly became known for blending café culture, flexible work environments, and a strong sense of community. The Brightwood/16th St. Heights opening marks the brand’s flagship location in DC.
The Three Whistles DC team has put together an award-winning food and beverage program with Chef John Mohl, formerly of Virginia’s Darling and Stracci, at the helm for food and Keith Butler, previously a coffee roaster with Grace Street Coffee, leading the café.
“Three Whistles was designed to be a place people can move through naturally—from focused work during the day to shared meals, drinks, and culture at night,” said Ramzy Azar, founder and owner of Three Whistles. “What began in as an idea about creating a better third place has grown into something we’re excited to improve on and bring to DC. Our goal is to become rooted in the neighborhood and designed for how people live and work.”
During the day, Three Whistles Workspace functions as a calm, well-appointed place to work and meet. It offers high-speed Wi-Fi, printing services, privacy booths, meeting areas, and dedicated work zones, all intentionally integrated into the café environment. Memberships are now available, providing regulars, creatives, and local professionals a consistent place to focus, collaborate, network, and return to throughout the week.
The espresso bar and café anchor the daytime experience, serving handcrafted coffee and espresso drinks alongside a menu of fresh salads, sandwiches, and café fare. As the day winds down, the café transitions seamlessly into evening, with late-night desserts available for guests looking to linger, unwind, or gather informally.
In the evenings, Three Whistles introduces its restaurant and bar service, currently offered Wednesday through Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the soft-opening phase. Dinner service features a concise, thoughtfully prepared menu paired with beer, wine, and cocktails—positioning Three Whistles as a relaxed yet elevated neighborhood destination after work.
Looking ahead, Three Whistles will expand its role as a cultural hub with evening events and programming coming soon, including gatherings featuring local artists, musicians, and creatives through dedicated wall space and sections. The event space is designed to foster connection and showcase regional talent, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to community and creative exchange.
To mark the occasion of the grand opening, Three Whistles DC will host a grand opening event on Wednesday, February 25, inviting the community to experience the space throughout the day. Guests are welcome to use the workspace for free during operating hours, offering an open invitation to explore the café and work environment firsthand. All attendees will receive one complimentary brewed coffee or tea (no refills), along with food samples from the café and kitchen. Team members will also offer guided tours of the private workspace areas throughout the day, providing an inside look at membership amenities and dedicated work zones.
Beginning at 5:00 p.m., the celebration will transition into the evening with local entertainment performing during dinner Wednesday through Saturday at 7p and bar service, highlighting the space’s shift from daytime focus to nighttime gathering.
