Thanks to Shawn for sending the photo above and asking for an update on the Due South that was coming to Chevy Chase in the former Organic Wine spot. Well I finally got the scoop on what’s going on. I spoke with owner Bo Blair yesterday who tells me that Due South has been scrapped but since they were able to get this larger space a whole new restaurant has been planned and it will be called Wheelhouse!!
While the menu will be different, Blair tells me “Wheelhouse will bring to Chevy Chase what Millie’s did for Spring Valley.”
It will be a a restaurant for everyone in the neighborhood. Anyone who has been to or walked by Millie’s knows that this is very good news indeed! The place is always packed. And for good reason. And while there will be seafood I’m told the menu will be American style – so I think we’ll be able to get burgers and such too. Oh yeah, pertinent to my personal dreams, there will also be a large bar. I’m thinking similar to how Surfside is set up. Anyway, great news for the neighborhood and lots more details as they get closer to opening. If all goes well plans are to open this Spring!!
