1805 Connecticut Ave NW at Florida Ave, NW
I confirmed with the owner that after being a Dupont staple for decades the Royal Palace’s last night will be this Saturday. The building is being sold along with the license but the current owner was unsure of the new owners plans.
I think the awning summed it up best “Bar, Food & Fun.
Spoke to him again last night it’s been 37 years!”
Another reader reports (I had no idea there were so many Royal Palace fans): (more…)
“Construction barrier open enough at 5th an K to see signs in windows “Cloakroom coming Spring 2018.”

Ed. Note: This property is formerly home to the Blinded Veterans Association.
Has anyone else heard plans about a strip club here?
A reader writes: “I just saw a flyer (opposing the strip club) about this [ 477 H St, NW] at Chinatown Coffee.”
“Tell Developers we don’t want Strip Clubs in Penn Quarter or Mt. Vernon Triangle in Washington, DC. Say NO to Strip Club at 5th and H Streets, NW”

A reader sends word on Friday:
“Jp’s strip club in glover park got shut down by OTR this afternoon.”
JP’s reopened in Glover Park back in April of last year after being closed since a fire in 2008. Apparently there are some tax issues going on:

Back in October we noted The House’s new look. Didn’t realize the sign out front was going to be permanent. Seems odd to spend so much money/effort and then leave a dated paper sign up:

Yesterday morning I walked past The House, the strip club by EL Haynes on Georgia Ave, and some workers there told me they’re removing the famous sign (happy hour every day- GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS) from the roof. I’m surprisingly sad to see it go- I’ve always given it as a landmark to friends walking to my house. The men I spoke to didn’t know if the sign would be upgraded/replaced.”
