I have to admit that I’m leaning awesome. But in my defense, I have been drinking. What’s the verdict?
This is the former OYA (briefly BOE) space. Back in September we learned they were shooting for a “Late 2018” opening. A peek inside revealed a lot more work needs to be done but we’ll update when they get a firm date.
Boqueria opened their first D.C. location in Dupont Circle back in 2012.
In the meantime about those signs?
You can see their menus here.
More signs after the jump. (more…)

From an email:
“‘Pizza Jawn’ Comes to DC with Marjorie Meek-Bradley
· A Jawn? A Philly slang term basically used to describe any single person, place or thing. But in this instance, it means a super awesome exclusive guest chef pizza collaboration available for a limited time.
· TODAY, Marjorie Meek-Bradley will be in Pizzeria Vetri slinging pie with Marc Vetri and announcing her guest chef creation, the DC Rising prepared with roasted peppers and onions, cheddar and jack cheese, half smoke and crispy shallot rings – which will be available 1/5-1/15.”
So, half smoke on a pizza – yes or no? I am intrigued!

“Tony Kornheiser announced on his podcast Tuesday that an ownership group that includes himself, former Maryland basketball coach Gary Williams and TV host Maury Povich purchased Chad’s, the longtime Friendship Heights restaurant and bar.”
Well, this is either gonna be absolutely awesome or absolutely awful. Stay tuned!
This car parks nightly, illegally, in front of my building. I called and spoke to parking enforcement today. They told me that if a person can’t find parking and has a zone sticker, they are allowed to park in a no parking zone. That’s insane! It really isn’t difficult to find parking around here, and after seeing this car dozens of times in this spot over the last year, it’s obvious that they’re treating this as their own personal parking spot.
311 routed me to parking enforcement today, and they routed me to a supervisor – who is in vacation until mid-January. That supervisor’s voicemail gave a another for another supervisor, and that number is of course disconnected.
Have you or anyone else heard of this unwritten (maybe it’s written??) rule that parking restrictions only apply some of the time?”
Yesterday I went into Killer ESP in Alexandria for a latte, and it was very crowded. I waited a while to order and then again a long time to get my coffee. Finally, they called my name, I picked up my cup (with my name on it) and headed out. After a few sips, I realized it was not the latte I’d ordered but a cafe au lait. (Later noticed under the sleeve that it said au lait.) Not a huge deal, so I went about my day. Then, because they use Square, I got an email asking about my experience. I gave them my feedback and received the rudest customer service responses I have ever had. Here’s the actual live chain of comments… ”
