Members of the Third District Crime Suppression Team (CST) and the Narcotics and Special Investigations Division (NSID) conducted another prostitution enforcement operation last night/early this morning in the area of 12th Street and Massachusetts Avenue NW in response to community concerns regarding an increase in visible prostitution activities. The operation resulted in the arrests of 7 males and 4 females for prostitution related offenses. We will continue our efforts in the area in hopes of making a lasting impact on this illegal activity.”

“On Thursday, April 6, 2017, Metropolitan Police Officer Chukwuemeka Ekwonna was arrested by the Anne Arundel County Police on a warrant charging him with Armed Robbery, Firearm Use, Assault 1st, 2nd, 3rd Degree, Sex Offense Third Degree, Reckless Endangerment, and Prostitution offenses that occurred on January 9, 2017.
Officer Ekwonna has been with the Metropolitan Police Department for 14 months and is assigned to the Second District. At this time, his police powers have been revoked and he has been placed in a non-contact status. The incident is being investigated by the Anne Arundel County Police Department and the Metropolitan Police Department Internal Affairs Division.”

“Members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Narcotics and Special Investigation Division Human Trafficking Unit announced arrests have been made in a recent joint prostitution enforcement operation conducted with the Third District Crime Suppression Team.
On Friday, January 8th, 2016, five adult males and an adult female were arrested. They all have been charged with Solicitation of Prostitution.
On Saturday, January 9th, 2016, four females were arrested. They all have been charged with Solicitation of Prostitution.
These recent arrests took place in the Downtown area in Washington, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department continues to respond to complaints about crime and encourages the public to contact the Metropolitan Police Department with those concerns.”

On Sunday, August 23, 2015, nine adult males were arrested. The men have all been charged with Solicitation of Prostitution.
The total count of arrests in this operation so far is 224. These recent arrests took place in and around the downtown area in Washington, DC.
The Human Trafficking Unit began conducting prostitution enforcement operations on Tuesday, July 14, 2015.
The Metropolitan Police Department continues to respond to complaints about crime and encourages the public to contact the Metropolitan Police Department with those concerns.”

These incidents occurred in and around the Downtown area in Northwest. All arrested were adult males charged with Solicitation of Prostitution.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2015, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Human Trafficking Unit began conducting prostitution enforcement. The 6 arrests between the overnight hours of Friday, July 24 and Saturday July 25, 2015 bring the total arrested in this operation to 63 since Tuesday, July 14, 2015. These incidents occurred in and around the Trinidad neighborhood, in Northeast. All arrested were adult males charged with Solicitation of Prostitution.
The Metropolitan Police Department continues to respond to complaints about crime and encourages the public to contact Metropolitan Police Department with concerns about crime.
The operation is ongoing.”

“On July 14th, 2015, the Metropolitan Police Department began conducting prostitution enforcement in the area that encompasses 9th Street to 17th Street from L Street to N Street, Northwest. The operation has resulted in thirty arrests for solicitation of prostitution since the operation began. The arrests made were all males (“Johns”), and they were all charged with solicitation of prostitution. This is an ongoing operation that will continue to focus on the prostitution complaints in this area.”

“Over the past few weekends, members detailed to the Prostitution Enforcement Unit have conducted operations in the downtown areas of the 1000-1300 blocks of K Street, Northwest, in addition to several surrounding streets. As a result, there have been approximately thirty (30) arrests of individuals for Solicitation for Prostitution.
The current enforcement efforts were focused on the “customers” in reverse style operations. These arrests have made a noticeable difference to the community and the enforcement efforts will continue.”
