“Dear PoPville,
Memorial Day parking to remember.
Signed,
Cross at the crosswalk”
At this point we must recognize that the man gonna park where the man wanna park. Period.
For those who said this wasn’t a bad summer.
@JackEvansWard2 tweets from The Kojo Nnamdi Show:
“Talking about serious rise in crime in the District. Proliferation of synthetic drugs is causing gang activity and violence across the city.”
Can anyone verify this? From the comments:
“At a community/police meeting last night at 15th and R, it came to light that Councilman Jack Evans (who was in attendance) had his car stolen over the weekend. It has been recovered by the police. No one is immune…..”
“Dear PoPville,
As my family and I left a youth soccer match at Raymond Rec Center on Sat. morning, I spotted Ward 4 Board of Education Member Frazier O’Leary’s Benz blocking a fire hydrant at the intersection of Quebec Pl and 10th St NW. The hazards were not on, and nothing suggested the driver’s return was imminent. Read More

“Dear PoPville,
I’m all in for getting rid of the overwhelming stench of Jack Evans and his pay-to-play version of public “service” (groan), but I’m a little overwhelmed by the number of candidates running to replace him. I fear that Jack will squeak back in with all the anti-Jack votes split between the candidates. Candidate forums ain’t happening these days, so what suggestions do you and/or your readers have for how I can make a good decision?
Given the volume of full-color flyers I’m getting in the mail, the candidates are spending some serious bucks to get my vote . . .”
And while we’re on the subject:
“Dear PoPville,
My husband and I requested absentee ballots for the upcoming primary and general elections via the “Vote 4 DC” app. I received my ballot a few days later, voted, and as of this morning the DC BOE has posted on their website that they have accepted my ballot. It couldn’t have been easier. However, my husband, again using the same app, address, and no new updates since the last election, has not had any reply. He tried again this morning on the app and only got a generic absentee ballot request form to print out and mail in to the BOE.”
Thanks to Brian for sending from Sunday’s Lunar New Year Parade in Chinatown:
“Phil (in black with the hat), Muriel and Jack all one big happy family!!!”
Former Council Member Jack Evans resigned and left the Council on January 17th…
NBC’s Mark Segraves tweeted earlier: “. @ChmnMendelson says it was “inappropriate” for Evans to march in parade with himself and @MayorBowser “After the parade, the Chairman made it clear to Mr. Evans that he should not come up for the presentation of the Council resolution” according to Mendo spokesperson”
Ok then.

Ward 2 Council member Jack Evans
From The Washington Post:
“A majority of the D.C. Council on Tuesday called on their colleague Jack Evans to resign, a day after receiving a report that said he repeatedly violated council ethics rules by using his office to help his private employers and consulting clients.”
From Councilmember Allen’s office:
“The following statement is from Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen:
“The O’Melveny investigation into Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans released today outlines a clear pattern and practice of unethical behavior that has compromised his ability to effectively serve on the Council and has destroyed public trust in his decision making. We have had to question every vote and every action he takes.
The report highlights 11 known instances — in just the last five years — of official actions Councilmember Evans took on behalf of one of his outside employers or potential employers. This is the definition of pay-to-play. Read More

“Dear PoPville,
This is maddening. Jack Evans is trying to block Call Your Mother from opening in Georgetown on 35th Street, stating that it’s “too successful” for the neighborhood.
Jacks letter to the Zoning Board, first reported by The Hoya.
You mess with my bagels? This is war.”
