2438 Market Street, NE

Ed. Note: Since it comes up on all Chick Fil A stories, allow me to include this post from a June 2018 story written in Huffpost titled: If You Really Love LGBTQ People, You Just Can’t Keep Eating Chick-fil-A.

From a press release:

“Chick-fil-A has selected Jessie Chesson as the local franchise owner of the chain’s Fort Lincoln restaurant as hiring of up to 100 new Team Members is under way in preparation for the projected May grand opening.

When Chesson’s stand-alone Chick-fil-A opens at 2410 Market St. NE in Dakota Crossing, it will be the latest step in her career as a Chick-fil-A franchise owner which began when she opened the chain’s location at 3100 14th St. NW in November 2015. She also is the Operator consultant to the licensee Chick-fil-A location inside Union Station. Read More

1214 18th Street, NW

On October 18th I posted some scuttlebutt about a likely Chick Fil A location here. There were MANY opinions.

Thanks to all who messaged the confirmation from Washington Business Journal:

“The fast-food poultry purveyor has signed a 15-year lease — with 14 years of optional extensions — with an affiliate of Douglas Development Corp. for 1214 18th St. NW, a couple blocks south of Dupont Circle.”

Ed. Note: One day I will find out what WBJ has on the Jemal family/Douglas Development Corp. Kidding, kidding. Kinda.

Standby for an opening date and the upcoming Chicken Wars with Nando’s down the block.

UPDATE from Jos. A. Magnus:

“Please note that Ms. DeVos is not one of our investors, although some members of her family are. We are not at liberty to discuss our investors specifically but I can assure you that Betsy DeVos is not an investor.”

Due to the politics/behavior of some ownership, patronage always comes up when we talk about new openings for Jimmy John’s and Chick Fil A. Looks like Jos. A. Magnus Distillery is being added to that list. Dryhopped passes on the latest:

Jos. A. Magnus & Co. Distillery opened up in Ivy City back in August 2015. Does an ownership stake from Betsy DeVos influence your decision to patronize them?

Well, we don’t have Union Station to kick around anymore. UNIQLO was a harbinger indeed.

Holy smokes, thanks to Michael for sending:

“Was just checking out Union Station’s website randomly for store hours and saw a ton of pretty great things listed as “coming soon” including Blue Bottle, Chick-Fil-A, Magnolia, and Warby Parker.”

And don’t sleep on the sale at The Body Shop!!

Yesterday the X2 Bus tweeted:

“looks like nine west and art of shaving are closed at union station. probably 2,000 square feet of retail here.”

Presumably the Warby Parker will take much of that space. STAY TUNED.

Ed. Note: Blue Bottle Coffee also has plans for Logan Circle[?], The Wharf and Union Market and have already opened in Georgetown.
