Greetings humans, I am Sheba, a canine queen bee ready to find my own royal family. As my royal name suggests, I love to be in the spotlight meeting and greeting my subjects, both human and animal alike, especially on my sniffy walks. I share the royal household with human and feline subjects, and when I get a little too playful for the cat I defer to her and move along.

Befitting of my regal stature, I am house trained and will retire to the privacy of my royal crate when my duties have been fulfilled. I also understand the words “sit”, “stay”, and “no”. Apply to meet me so we can take a walk while we discuss the latest royal canine gossip.

Sam(uel) I am, and a home I need.
As a senior guy, I run at a lower speed.
[except for when I’m nipping on the catnip]
Because I’m in my golden years, I am friendly and calm.
When I want pets, I’ll stick my sweet head in your palm.
I will make you alllll the air biscuits, sending my love your way.
And as a chatty catty, I’ll talk to you as I go about my day.
I love keeping company, but am happy to nap solo.
Let’s curl up on the couch, as you drink your hot cocoa.
Let me be your companion, I’ll be comfortably near while you cook.
Or while you knit or stretch or read a book.
My happy place is in a sunny window, listening to sounds.
And watching the birds in my surrounds.
I hope there is room for happy Sam in your heart.
Come meet me today, let’s not spend another day apart.

XOXO, Samuel

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

Our beloved miniature dachshund named Pepperoni was having difficulty breathing earlier today and at the recommendation of our normal Vet at Dupont veterinary clinic we brought him to friendship animal hospital for urgent care.

We were waiting all afternoon to hear an update from them and it wasn’t until the doctor taking care of Pepperoni called us from their personal cellphone number that we finally received an update about his status.

Whereupon we discovered that Verizon’s call filter service had marked all 50+ calls from friendship animal hospital’s publicly listed phone number as spam and were subsequently blocked. (more…)

The DC Chamber Musicians close out the 25-26 season with popular works by Brahms and Dohnanyi, and three selections of newer works that are sure to delight. All set in the lovely St. Thomas’ Parish Episcopal Church in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. Join us afterward for a reception featuring light refreshments (including beer and wine) and an opportunity to chat with the musicians.
