Animal Fix

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

Farin is a sweet girl who came to Lost Dog all the way from Iran!

If you’ve got a warm lap, Farin is ready to occupy it. She’s very friendly with people and gets along with dogs her size once she gets to know them. Farin loves to go for walks and play with toys. She is house-trained and can be trusted when home alone. Farin has cataracts in both eyes which limits her vision but doesn’t slow her down much. She navigates her foster home very well. This prince is the sweetest in the land! Regency is a perfect gentleman at his foster home and has been such a treat. He can be a little shy to make an appearance at first, but once he’s comfortable, he will come out and just loves pets and attention and talking to you! Regency is a playful 5 year old with such cute bright round eyes, a precious “grumpy” face, and a triangle marking on his back! We can tell he’s had a rough start at life, including a poorly healed broken back toe (happily, he has no pain or limp from it!) but is so full of love and is ready for a new chance at a family. From a press release:

“Joy is in the air this holiday season and CityCenterDC is thrilled to once again present a delightful experience for the entire community. After the success of the life-sized igloo in 2017 and the Winter in Washington exhibit in 2018, which featured ice replicas of iconic national monuments up to 12 feet tall, CityCenterDC continues its tradition of immersive large-scale ice installations by creating the largest clear ice maze in the United States. From December 13th-15th guests will have the opportunity to get lost in a frozen labyrinth with towering 7-feet-tall walls, constructed with more than 110,000 pounds of clear ice. (more…)

Chinatown

709 7th Street, NW

Ken reports from the front lines:

“I went in to get a few things and while I was checking out, I was chatting with the sales clerk. She told me that the store won’t actually close until June 1st and that they will continue to get shipments of items until that time, but it would mostly be clearance or other reduced items. She described it kind of like a BBB clearance center. She also said that she’s heard a lot of scuttlebutt regarding what would happen to the space, (more…)

Adams Morgan

1815 Adams Mill Road, NW

Southern Hospitality closed after 7 years here back in July. The space was previously home to Adams Mill Bar and Grill which closed back in 2011. But the big potential news comes from a recent ANC meeting (thanks to Gordon Chaffin for the heads up about it) – Ben Sislen – an Adams Morgan resident and one of the owners of the excellent The Crown & Crow in Logan Circle said that he is in the process of looking at bringing a sports bar with betting to the former Southern Hospitality space. And all I can say is STAY TUNED!!
