The Heurich House Museum will be open to the public from 11am to 1pm each Wednesday in July, and food trucks will be stationed in the front driveway for visitors to purchase lunch. For the past year, the Dupont Circle museum has focused on providing more public access beyond their traditional docent-led tours, which take place Thursdays through Saturdays. On Wednesdays, this July, guests will be able to explore the museum’s first floor, including the family’s dining room, Conservatory, and ornate parlor rooms. Admission is a suggested donation of $5.
After touring the historic Dupont home, visitors are encouraged to purchase lunch from a rotating selection of food trucks that will be parked in their New Hampshire Avenue driveway. Guests may dine at tables set out in the driveway or relax in the backyard Castle Garden, which is open to the public year-round during weekdays.
The food truck schedule is as follows:
Cap Mac on July 5th
El Pollo Submarine on July 12th
Project Milanesa on July 19th
Swizzler on July 26th
Heurich House Museum’s executive director Kimberly Bender is excited for the summertime pop-up, “These new hours will allow the museum to be even more accessible to visitors,” she said. “This home represents a slice of Washington, DC’s history and the people who made the city what it is today. We are excited to share this history with even more people through our extended hours.”
No reservations are required and children are welcome, if accompanied by an adult.
