Take pride in your Shaw/U Street corridor!

Every year, volunteers get together to clean up, plant, & mulch the 1/4 miles of street gardens that are part of historic Vermont Avenue, in Washington, DC.

This is a great way to meet your neighbors and take pride in the beauty of a vital part of our city. We need about 30 people to participate, more is better.

NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED. Training, tools, & other support will be provided. Free breakfast, lunch, drinks and door prizes included.

Please arrive by 9:00am sharp for training, or join us asap. Meet at the African American Civil War Memorial (U Street & Vermont)

TOOLS & PROTECTION: Many tools will be provided, but if you’ve got ’em, please bring ’em, ideally with your name on ’em. Bright clothes, hat & sun block also recommended.

Request for care: To avoid compacting the soil & damaging plant roots, please do not walk through the beds during the year.

Event coordinated by Jeffrey Willis Co-Coordinator: David Treanor

Please support our terrific Major Sponsors: Nellie’s Sports Bar, Fort Meyer Construciton Corporation (safety cones), JBG SMITH (funding), Urban Brokers, LLC (funding), Bediz Group (funding & coordinating), DC Urban Forestry (mulch)
