Police Shut Down Irving Street in Park View – Reports of a possible shooting/shots fired

Around 3:15pm Alert DC Traffic Police reported: “Traffic Alert
700 b/o Irving St NW btw Sherman Ave and Georgia Ave NW [EB One-Way] due to Police Activity
Alternative Route[s]: Park Rd, Harvard St, Lamont St
Watch for MPD direction // Closures are subject to change”

Some are hearing this was a shooting but that has not been confirmed at the moment. Update when more is known.

“Nearly three miles of Georgia avenue will be free of vehicular traffic between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.” on October 5th

“Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that the District will host its inaugural Open Streets event on Saturday, October 5, 2019, along Georgia Avenue, NW. Nearly three miles of the avenue will be free of vehicular traffic between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., allowing residents to walk along and in the roadway and enjoy a wide range of activities for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. “Location of incident: in the rear of 2200 Q Street, NW.

At approximately 12:00 pm., a suspect fired a weapon at the listed location.

Members on the scene recovered two shell casings. No victim, no vehicle, or property were damaged.

Arrest Made in an Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse on Georgia Ave near Howard University

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit have announced a suspect has been arrested in an Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred in the 2600 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

At approximately 6:50 pm, the suspect approached a female victim while she was walking at the listed location. The suspect physically assaulted the victim with the intent to commit a sexual act. The suspect fled the scene but was apprehended by responding officers.

On Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 30-year old, Robert Marion Buck of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse.”
