Anyone try out Xelaju G&M inside Cuban Espresso? Looks promising: “Tacos, Burritos, sandwiches, quesadillas, tortas, burgers, wings and more.”

“Dear PoPville,

My partner, a very meticulous person, had an odd thing happen over the holidays and it sounds like a scam. He parked in the parking garage under the Columbia Heights Target. When he went to exit the garage a short time later he put his ticket in the machine and it said the ticket was unable to be read. The staff person at the exit took the ticket and later came back to say the plate number on the ticket didn’t match the license plate of our car and she asked my partner to follow her to the parking office. As PoPville gets ready to celebrate our 20 year anniversary this November, I’m gonna lean into historical posts a bit leading up to the party. It occurred to me that I (and we collectively) have a LOT of institutional knowledge. So why not share it from time to time? But mostly because these are just fun to remember! “Smoothie & Juice Bar
We can’t say much… but something juicy is coming soon
2026”

Thanks to Jeremy for sharing with us:

“Signage is up for a new juicery called “La Jugueria” – exciting addition to 11th St in a long vacant property!”

Back in June 2025 we learned that:

“Medical Cannabis Retailer, DC Garden Hill, coming to the long vacant space on 11th Street in Columbia Heights but a juice shop will be on the first floor and the medical cannabis retailer will be located upstairs.”

Scuttlebutt confirmed!

STAY TUNED for more on both.

“Dear PoPville,

I am a Columbia Heights resident writing to highlight some extremely kind strangers in my neighborhood this morning. This AM I was walking two dogs when one slipped out of his harness and proceeded to run away. I left the second dog behind and gave chase. The dog ran for blocks and was approaching Georgia Ave, where I was very sure he was going to be hit by a car, when (more…)

ICYMI: Fences Go Up Around Freedom Plaza and John Marshall Park – “PLAZA BEAUTIFICATION AND FOUNTAIN REHABILITATION”

Thanks to everyone who sent photos yesterday:

“Just walked my pup through Meridian Hill/Malcolm X park and on the upper level there are fences that block off the railing that over looks the lower portion of the park and doesn’t allow you to go down the stairs.” (more…)
