UPDATE:

PERHAPS all is not lost for Korean. One reader hears the Creole place is coming to the old El Tio space a few storefronts down. Maybe it was just a typo on the placard?”

DEVELOPING.

Thanks to Michael for the heads up. A new liquor license placard for the space once planned for Iron Age says:

“Creole on 14th

New Retailer’s Class “C” Restaurant offering Creole cuisine for lunch and dinner. Applicant is applying for an Entertainment Endorsement. Applicant is also applying for a Sidewalk CafeEndorsement with 18 seats. Total seating inside is 100 with a Total Occupancy Load of 150.”

STAY TUNED.

“Dear PoPville,

So about a month ago we decided to go to Cafe Bonaparte in Georgetown for brunch, but it was closed with papered up windows and a sign about being closed for the week to paint.

However, that sign has been up since early September and their website has stated the same thing for as long.

Just wondering if anyone knew what the status of the restaurant is.”

I took a peak in the door over the weekend: (more…)

3401 K St NW (Water St.)

Ed. Note: The Berliner only opened up next door/underneath Gypsy Sally’s about a year ago. I haven’t heard if the building sale/condo conversion will affect them. Stay tuned.

Thanks to all who messaged us. I keep forgetting to post this from Gypsy Sally’s:

As you may have heard, our landlord recently sold the building where we have resided since 2013. It will be developed into condominiums. With great sadness, Gypsy Sally’s will have its final load-out on January 5th, 2020. Until then, we plan on conducting business as usual with a full calendar of great music for you to enjoy. Stay tuned for info in the coming weeks regarding John Kadlecik’s plans for our final show. It is only fitting that John should preside over our send off, and we are honored that he will be hosting our closing festivities. (more…)

14th and Irving Street, NW

Thanks to Michael for sending the Ledo Pizza update yesterday. Folks in the know say they are approximately two weeks away from opening. Check out their menu here.

This space was previously home to Bar Roubaix here back in December 2017. Before Bar Roubaix this space was home to Acre 121 and CommonWealth gastro pub before them. Stay tuned for an exact date for Ledo Pizza.

Thanks to a reader for sending this rendering they found for 700 H Street, NE. First I’m hearing of this so not sure if this is still planned. The lettering is kind of small – does it look like it says delivering in 2017? Of course those dates often change but there is also a Shake Shack not too far away in Union Station. I’ll be sure to update if we learn more, STAY TUNED.

6916 4th Street, NW

From an email:

“Takoma Station Tavern was the site of a great jazz scene in the 80’s and 90’s, when jazz luminaries like Wynton Marsalis graced the stage and local jazz heroes like Paul Carr and Marshall Keys were a regular presence. In the mid-90’s, the club changed formats to R&B and go-go. But great jazz is making a return to the club, located at 6916 4th St. NW in Takoma DC near the Takoma metro stop. (more…)
