Early this morning, around 8 am, I was walking my dog down U Street (near the intersection of Vermont Avenue). A guy walking in front of me slowed down, turned around and said good morning. He was very polite. I responded back, saying good morning. At that point, he reared back his leg and kicked my dog in the side, yelling expletives and shouting that “this is not a dog park!”. I responded by shouting back at him, but as he approached me, I realized engaging with him probably was not smart as I did not know what he was capable of or if he had a weapon. I turned around and walked away and he followed me, continuing to scream at me and my dog. As I tried to get away, I realized this was the habitual “dog kicker” that people talk about here on PoPville, so I figured it was best to get the police involved. Read More

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit have announced an arrest has been made in an Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred on Friday, January 17, 2020, in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast.

At approximately 10:10 am, the suspect approached a female victim at the listed location. The suspect physically assaulted her with the intent to commit a sexual assault.

On Friday, January 17, 2020, 47-year old, Perry McGrier of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse.”

“On January 15, 2020, members of the Fourth District executed a search warrant in the 300 block of Delafield Place, NW. As a result of the warrant, the officers made nine arrests, recovered five semi-automatic firearms, seized narcotics, and US currency.

Between May 6, 1991, and August 1, 1998, a single assailant, locally known as the “Potomac River Rapist,” is alleged to have sexually assaulted eight women, attempted another sexual assault, and committed one homicide in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
