Next time you go to Columbia Heights Coffee on 11th between Monroe and Park be sure to take a second and actually check out the old coffee cans above the sugar. Some of them are really quite cool.

Ok, I swear I’m not joking here. I know the door’s a bit beat up but I’ve never seen a cabana door on a row house before. My old apartment building used to have cabana doors and they were sweet. I guess they went out of style with the advent of screen doors but I still dig them. This one would be sweet with a bit of paint and sanding.

This one gets honors because every single window has some sweet stained glass above it. Sometimes I see homes like this with stained glass above the first floor windows but I’ve never seen second floor stained glass before. Nice. Close ups after the jump. (more…)

Well, we haven’t judged pop ups in a while. What do you think about this one? It kind of reminds me of one of those old Volkswagon vans that has the pop up tops. Yeah, I’m not a big fan of this one. you guys?

This sign is located on 14th Street just south of P Street. I thought this spot was going to be reopened. I can’t remember what the new bar will be. Can anyone refresh my memory here?
Incidentally there is also some art located up top that you may not have noticed before.

It’s no secret I’m a pretty big fan of LZ Middle Eastern Restaurant located on Florida Ave just west of 14th Street. As I’ve mentioned before the owners are as nice as can be. The one flaw I thought the place has was that the interior was a bit drab. I was psyched to see that added some fresh new couches. They also have added a tv. You can even just grab some tea and watch some tv. So if you haven’t checked them out yet and are looking for a real casual place with super nice owners, go stop by if you live in the neighborhood.

While we’re on the topic of Georgetown, I thought I’d ask about the proposed waterfront park. Anyone know when it’s supposed to be completed? One of the few things I miss about living in DC is that we’re kinda far away from the beach. But if we had some sweet waterfront parks I think that would scratch what itches me. Anyone else looking forward to this park being completed?

This home is located at 1409 33rd Street, NW:
The flier says:
“Fabulous renovation with original charm kept intact. No other house like it. Loaded with sunlight, 3 levels, 3 fireplaces, new hardwoods throughout, wonderful kitchen with marble, Viking & Miele, private brick patio, english basement, lovely baths and much more! A TRUE GEM IN THE HEART OF GEORGETOWN. Don’t miss it.”
More info and a virtual tour can be found here.
So I know some feel that all the GDoN homes are house porn but just for the record, I’ll call it house porn when the asking price is over a million bucks. On these posts I think it’s more interesting to hear about what you think of the home itself but for those in the know that want to take a crack at the price, that’s cool too. Without any further ado this home is going for $1,195,000, which in Manhattan would get you a 2 bedroom coop…

I feel like I’ve heard folks talk about Sushi Ko in other restaurant posts so I thought it’d be worthwhile to give it a post of its own. It is located at 2309 Wisconsin Ave. NW. I seem to recall that is rather expensive, is that right? So what’s the word on the sushi and the price?
Incidentally I really like the front of the building it looks like they used some sort of metal for the front. I dig it.
