“Tom’s Watch Bar in Los Angeles”

Last week we noted Tom’s Watch Bar would be opening soon in the former Circa/Zengo space in Chinatown.

Here’s all the info/details from a press release:

“With an elevated, 360°-degree viewing room complete with personalized audio at every table, and more than 120 high-definition screens, the new Chinatown location of Tom’s Watch Bar is set to transform how Washingtonians watch their favorite professional, collegiate, international sports teams as well as UFC and other special sporting events. Tom’s Watch Bar will open at 781 Seventh St., NW, steps from the action at Capital One Arena on December 5. The venue will adjust its normal operating hours for World Cup viewing opportunities starting December 6.

The 6,500 square-foot bar and restaurant boasts three central oversized “stadium” screens and seating for more than 300 guests. Read More

Apologies for the delay in posting – and thanks to all who emailed and tweeted. I have no excuse except for the fact that I’m battling a bit of a fruit fly problem that is slowly driving me insane. But never mind that… Richard Sandoval’s Zengo closed last week and the Washington Business Journal reports:

“Circa, the neighborhood brasserie with several other locations around Greater Washington, will open in the Zengo space at 781 Seventh St. NW.”

You can see Circa’s menus here.

And on their website they have a coming soon slot for a Navy Yard location too (99 M Street, SE.)

Thanks to a reader for sending a photo of the new Chipotle signage on 14th Street just north of P (the old Sam’s Pawn Shop building.) This is the same building where a Zengo Cycling Studio is coming this December. From a press release:

“Zengo Cycle, an indoor cycling concept based in Bethesda, Md., is expanding in the D.C. metro area with a new 1,900 square foot studio in the Logan Circle neighborhood. Opening in December, this location marks the beginning of the concept’s regional expansion.

Located at 1508 14th Street NW, the new Zengo Cycle will be the neighborhood’s first indoor cycling studio. The location will feature a fleet of top-of-the-line Schwinn magnetic resistance bikes, a custom sound system that makes music an integral part of the experience, and a robust retail section offering an array of Zengo Cycle branded gear.”

This is the former home to Sam’s Pawn Shop which closed in May of last year. According to the Washington Business Journal it will be home to a ZenGo cycling studio and a Chipotle restaurant.

Amazing what transformations can happen in just over a year.

Here’s how it looked in May 2012.

ZENGO DC is located at 781 7th St, NW. Their Facebook page says:

Zengo is an artful blend of Latin-Asian styles and flavors. Chef-owner Richard Sandoval, whose accolades include Bon Appétit Restaurateur of the Year and Mexico’s Toque d’Oro, spins regional ingredients into beautifully balanced dishes designed for sharing.

The beverage menu features innovative, hand-muddled cocktails as well as Latin wines, Japanese sakes and over 400 Tequilas. The vibrant décor fuses traditional and contemporary tastes, the perfect setting to savor Zengo’s acclaimed cuisine.

We previously judged Zengo back in July ’09.

Zengo is located at 781 Seventh Street, NW. I think this is the first “Latin-Asian” restaurant I’ve seen. Sounds interesting. I’m also intrigued by the “Latin-Asian” cocktails for happy hour? How’s the atmosphere? Any particular dishes you recommend?
