“It’s a question as old as philosophy itself: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? In NoMa, it turns out, they arrived simultaneously. This week, the NoMa Business Improvement District (BID) is installing The Chicken and the Egg, a two-piece sculpture, on a U.S. National Park Service (NPS) property at the southeast corner of the New York Avenue and North Capitol Street intersection. The public artwork is the first realization of the BID’s Gateways Project (nomabid.org/gateways), a long-term effort that will use art to transform key intersections around NoMa. (more…)

I’m happy to report that Chicken + Whiskey is doing very well – this signage is for the space upstairs. As for the Dacha coming to the parking lot next door – I have no idea. Maybe since Navy Yard opened they’ll now focus attention here? Anyone know hear anything?
“Since spotting her in the area, PETA staffers have been visiting Henrietta, as they named her, near her nesting tree each morning with bags of chicken feed–and just today, they flew into motion and managed to catch her while she was fast asleep in her nest, possibly after a hard night of dealing with wind and rain. Now, we’re happy to report that Henrietta has been whisked to a safe haven at the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary in Maryland, where she’ll have friends, space to roam, and all the chicken feed that her heart desires.
