“Dear PoPville,

I’m wondering if anyone has a pediatrician that does NOT charge to get DC health forms filled out.

Our pediatrician charges us $25 to get them filled out and we need to bring in a self-addressed stamped envelope and it takes sometimes two weeks to receive them back. I’ve spoken with friends who take their kids to other doctors and have the same fee and issues with how long it takes. (more…)

From an email: “A group of us in Bloomingdale are attempting to raise funding to support construction of the Tricia McCauley Memorial Herb Garden in LeDroit Park, with construction scheduled to begin early in the New Year.”

For those not familiar with Tricia you can read about her tragic story here. She was a beloved member of Bloomingdale and so many other communities. RIP.

The fundraiser says:

“Friends and family of Tricia McCauley, in partnership with Common Good City Farm, are honoring her legacy through the creation of the Tricia McCauley Memorial Fund. The fund will preserve Tricia’s love of herbalism and teaching through supporting the ongoing cultivation of the medicinal herb garden, now The Tricia McCauley Memorial Herb Garden, as well as herbalism workshops at Common Good City Farm. “Dear PoPville,

We’ve reached that point in our lives of needing a pediatrician, and would be interested in polling the community for pediatrician recommendations, preferably not too far from Petworth. It looks like there hasn’t been a discussion on the topic for about five years”

From an email:

Deadline for letters to be signed and returned is Tuesday, April 11 evening (i.e. tomorrow). This is not just for Tricia, whom we lost tragically and brutally, but also for the Public Safety of the DC community, so that such a thing never happens again.

Just a reminder (if you have not already) to send your letter in memory of the tragic loss of our beloved friend and Bloomingdale resident
Tricia McCauley.
(and please pass this email along to friends and other DC residents, and/or share on Social Media) (more…)

From an email:

“Boundary Stone (116 Rhode Island Ave, NW) is hosting a benefit for Common Good City Farm beginning Thursday in memory of Bloomingdale resident Tricia McCauley. In addition to charitable contributions to the cause from both 3 Stars Brewing and DC Brau (a rotation of DC Brau and 3-Stars on the “Common Good” Tap, with all proceeds going to support the farm), Atlas Brew Works will debut “Isla De Encanta” – a beer brewed in her honor and especially for this event. All proceeds will go to Common Good City Farm in Bloomingdale, a non-profit organization where Tricia honed her skills as an herbalist.

Common Good will also be dedicating a memorial herb garden at their location on Sat, April 15th at 11AM.”
