From an email:

“Saturday, July 13 from 3:30pm-5pm

One Saturday a month, Dio Wine Bar hosts Saturday happy hour for parents, guardians and their children. Families are welcome to enjoy drinks and food without the added expense of finding a sitter or getting the stink eye for bringing their little ones to the bar. On Saturday, July 13, we are opening at 3:30pm and are excited to host Lola and Pear Publishing for a children’s book reading as part of their Book, Babies, and Booze Tour. Sip on sangria while listening to The Adventures of Duke, the Therapy Dog: Duke Finds A Home. No tickets required, just bring yourselves!

Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner takes place one Saturday per month from 4pm-5pm. Future dates are August 10, September 28, and October 26.”

The Book-Ish Series:

Being in the nation’s capital, we can’t help but nerd out over politics, the sciences, and cultural phenomena. Book-ish is our series of fusion seminar/wine tasting classes that are centered around a niche subject and how it relates to the wine in your glass. Trust us – you’ve never been to a wine class like this before. Taste wine, enjoy nibbles, and target=”_blank”>learn something new!”

The liquor license placard for Dio says:

“A wine bar that will serve food and alcoholic beverages. Total Occupancy Load of 24 seats.”

Their facebook page says:

“Dio is a natural wine bar with light fare and a hip atmosphere.”

Washington City Paper reported:

“Khoury-Diaz is starting small, literally. Her bar named after Dionysus—the god of wine—is about 900 square feet and will focus on natural wine. The white-hot style of winemaking calls for minimal intervention both out in the field growing the grapes and once the grape juice is being made into wine.”

Updates as they get closer to opening.

Ed. Note: This follows yesterday’s report that Dio Wine Bar was robbed of wine on H Street, NE. We also subsequently learned that Bar Bullfrog was also robbed on H Street, NE that night.

Kelsey reports: “I saw on Dio’s Wine Bar that someone broke their window with a rock and stole a bunch of wine. Just like many in DC, they are trying to stay afloat and keep employees paid, and this is probably a big hit for them. Thought maybe you could post it in case anyone saw anything, and also a reminder that Dio has been operating as a wine shop, and will continue to do deliveries and pick ups, and has a go fund me going.” (more…)
