Oof, this one hurts. Thank God for Looking Glass Lounge (a few doors down) but this was a truly great spot. Enjoy them and their hugely popular “buy one get one” for the next few months.

From the owners of DC Reynolds, one of the consistently best bars in D.C.:

“Our lease is up and as per usual landlord expectations for rent surpass what we’re comfortable with.

April 2020 will be the end of the run for DC Reynolds. Since March 17th 2012 we’ve opened our doors every single day to our neighbors, friends, and industry colleagues. (more…)

11th and U Street, NW

I also like the new Jackie Lee’s on Kennedy Street. Having said all that, I understand as a District of over 700,000 folks there will be varied tastes. As such, whatever floats your boats my friends, whatever floats your boats. Truly! Without further ado from a press release:

“Drink Company pays homage to ‘Rick and Morty’ with new Wubba Lubba Dub PUB launching August 9

The team that brought you Game of Thrones PUB last summer is going multi-dimensional with an homage to another TV favorite: Rick and Morty. 3630 Georgia Avenue, NW

Thanks to Cheryl for sending:

“I’ve been wondering what’s been coming to this space. This is in between DC Reynolds and the old Walters on Georgia Ave. Now I understand why DC Reynolds had to return part of their patio space.”

The liquor license placard for Tsehay Ethiopian Restaurant says:

“New Restaurant serving Ethiopian food. Summer Garden with 20 seats. Seating for 42 inside and a Total Occupancy Load of 62. Requesting an Entertainment Endorsement to provide live entertainment inside the premises and for the Summer Garden.”

STAY TUNED.

Alright, alright, alright – it’s been a minute since we had some interesting scuttlebutt so wait no longer. Word on the street is that a Middle Eastern restaurant with belly dancing is coming to the old Walters space (RIP Blue Banana) in between DC Reynolds and Looking Glass Lounge. And south of DC Reynolds, I hear an Ethiopian restaurant is coming with possibly a lounge on the second floor. STAY TUNED.

3619 Georgia Ave

From Bonstra Haresign Architects:

“3619 Georgia Avenue, NW is a six-story, 27 unit condominium structure with ground floor retail. The project provides many opportunities to explore the larger urban goals for the up-and-coming Petworth neighborhood while advancing the revitalization of Georgia Avenue’s main retail thoroughfare . The project takes advantage of the multimodal transportation within the immediate vicinity of the site and the pedestrian friendly streetscape. This design is a fresh approach to building in Petworth – a beacon, recognizable from a distance, showcasing a unique design rising above the trees and traffic of Georgia Avenue.”

5501 14th Street, NW via Swampoodle’s facebook

Last week we finally learned who was likely taking over the old Swampoodle space at 14th and Colorado. Now it is no longer likely – it’s confirmed!! And what’s better than one of the owners of Boundary Stone, Matt Croke, being involved? One of the partners in DC Reynolds, Tony Kowaleski, is also involved!! Tony and Matt have each lived in the neighborhood about 8 years so given that and their bona fides, this will surely be a legit neighborhood gathering place. They hope to open this Fall so standby for many many more details including the new name soon. STAY TUNED.
