From a press release:

“Boundary Stone’s sixth annual barrel-aged beer competition will take place on Tuesday, September 10 from 6:30pm – 9pm, with VIP entry at 5:30pm. After five years of pitting local breweries against each other in a DC Beer Week competition to see who can create the best barrel-aged brew, the Battle of the Barrel-Aged Beer is getting an extra kick this time around by pairing each of the six participating breweries with a liquor barrel from a local distillery.

General admission tickets for the event will be $30 in advance and $35 at the door and include a four ounce taster of all six beers in the contest, a voting token, and a full-sized draft beer from last year’s champions 3 Stars Brewery. VIP tickets are $60 and include all of the above as well as a Brewers Meet & Greet with complimentary snacks from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, a t-shirt with original artwork and a commemorative glass. (more…)

Boundary Stone is of course one of the best pubs in D.C. for many reasons. And this is a big one.

So much awfulness bringing out so much greatness. Thanks to all who donated from Team PoPville we represented properly! And oh my God, did so many people rally for this. And while Boundary Stone thanks many key players (see below), I’d like to take the opportunity to thank them, and especially the Croke family, for all they do for this event. It is truly stunning to witness. The passion they have in fighting this awful illness is truly inspiring. And it’s a good reminder that while all this negativity abounds these days, there is also much greatness to celebrate. So on behalf of so many, thank you to Boundary Stone for leading the charge in this fight year after year after year.

And Brandon Skall, of D.C. Brau fame, really is the greatest emcee I’ve ever witnessed.

From Boundary Stone:

“Wow. Wow. Wow! We are blown away by the awesomeness of our community! Thanks to all who donated, volunteered and came out in force to our St. Baldrick’s Foundation shave party on Sunday. Together we raised $155,000 for pediatric cancer research! ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!! INCREDIBLE!!!! (more…)

5501 14th Street, NW via Swampoodle’s facebook

Last week we finally learned who was likely taking over the old Swampoodle space at 14th and Colorado. Now it is no longer likely – it’s confirmed!! And what’s better than one of the owners of Boundary Stone, Matt Croke, being involved? One of the partners in DC Reynolds, Tony Kowaleski, is also involved!! Tony and Matt have each lived in the neighborhood about 8 years so given that and their bona fides, this will surely be a legit neighborhood gathering place. They hope to open this Fall so standby for many many more details including the new name soon. STAY TUNED.
