From a press release:
“Call Your Mother, Washington D.C.’s nationally renowned, locally grown “Jew-ish” deli, opens its first mobile kitchen, the Call Your Mother Trolley, Tuesday, July 14.
Also known as Honey, the original name of the antique streetcar, Call Your Mother’s bagel trolley is rolling into Bethesda, Maryland and parking next to Suburban Hospital at 8804 Old Georgetown Road. With social distancing in mind, guests can order bulk bagels and their favorite signature sandwiches ahead here or at the trolley. The full Call Your Mother menu will be available soon.
“It’s one of the old trollies that used to tour the city, but it’s no longer orange and green,” says Andrew Dana, Founder and Co-Owner of Call Your Mother. Instead, the trolley is outfitted in the brand’s emblematic pink and green meant to evoke “Boca-meets-Brooklyn” blending outstanding bagels and bright South Florida vibes. Some of South Florida’s well-known Jewish retirement homes are the inspiration behind the names of Call Your Mother’s quirky woodfire bagel sandwiches. (more…)

Hey squad We really miss ya so we wanted to share some good vibes from our team. This week we got a very small crew back in the kitchen to bake and pack up over 2,000 bagels. We donated them to hospitals in the area as a small token of thanks to those on the front line. If you get a moment, check in on and thank a health care worker this weekend. We’re so thankful for what they’re doing. ++ some good news: this allowed us to practice operating in a smaller and very thoughtful capacity. Stay posted for more info about how we will reopen next week with order ahead & pick up.
Call Your Mother’s website says:
“Welcome to a new CYM experience! Beginning Monday, March 30th we’re reopening with a limited menu that you can order online for pick up only at our Park View shop. We’re doing everything possible to do this safely and we hope you will help us in that process. Thank you for your support!”

Back in January we broke the news that Spring Mill was closing and Call Your Mother would be taking over the space. Thanks to Kristin for the excellent update of the progress. Stay tuned for an opening date as construction progresses.

Thanks to Michael for reporting: “Spring Mill Bakery at 8th & G SE has posted a sign that it will be closing at the end of the month (other locations will remain open). Although I haven’t seen it in writing anywhere, scuttlebutt on the street is that Call Your Mother will take over the space.”
Spring Mill opened here back in 2011. In September of last year we learned that the uber popular Call Your Mother was planning on opening up a location on Capitol Hill (after Georgetown opens.) Update: EaterDC now confirms the Call Your Mother part!!

Big news from the Georgetown BID:
“Oh, Bagelgate. What a time to be alive! After a few delays, Call Your Mother is expected to open in Georgetown by the end of this month. Everyone BE COOL! The ‘Jew-ish’ deli will serve toasted bagels and sell its bagel sandwiches inside the bright pink former flower shop at 3428 O St NW. Follow them on Instagram for the official opening announcement.”
Thanks to ANC rep Michael Wray for sharing:
“This could be a PoPville caption contest – but in the ongoing Call Your Mother BZA case, the applicant posted photos of how the line can be easily accommodated at their new location. As their current ANC Commissioner – folks it’s no big deal. Best of luck.” (more…)
