Official Announcement: “Woodley Park Ace Hardware will close its doors at the end of the month after 10 years in business on Connecticut Avenue, NW.”

2616 Connecticut Ave, NW

From a press release:

“Woodley Park Ace Hardware will be closing its doors this summer after 10 great years in the neighborhood. While leaving Connecticut Avenue is bittersweet, this is not goodbye.

Woodley Park Ace Hardware was the sixth location opened by local entrepreneurs Gina Schaefer and Marc Friedman, co-founders and owners of A Few Cool Hardware Stores. The company became employee-owned in 2021 and currently operates 12 other locations in the DC and Baltimore metro areas.

Schaefer and Friedman opened the store in 2003 to fill a niche in the community for a local hardware store and, as Schaefer says, “because we love the feel of the neighborhood. We would like to thank the community and all our customers for their support over these 10 years. We are truly grateful,” Schaefer says.

May Piekarski has been with A Few Cool Hardware Stores since 2017 and managing the Woodley Park store since 2019. “It has been an absolute honor to be part of the Woodley Park community, and I would not trade this experience for anything,” she says. “I am so grateful to all our customers for their presence, patronage, and support. I am equally grateful to my amazing staff. I know we can continue to serve our incredible Woodley Park customers with the same dedication and unparalleled customer service through our other Cool Hardware locations.”

The company’s Glover Park Hardware and Tenleytown Ace Hardware are a short drive from the Woodley Park location and offer free validated parking. Adams Morgan Ace Hardware is just a 12- minute walk away. Customers can find their favorite Woodley Park Ace team members relocated to nearby stores in the DC metro area.

The store will run a series of sales and promotions through July as part of the closing process. For updates on the closure, we urge customers to follow the store on social media and join its email list via the website’s contact page at www.acehardwareDC.com. We thank you for your continued support!”

We want to thank the Woodley Park community for shopping and supporting our employee-owned store for the past decade and welcome our neighbors to join us for a Farewell Party on Saturday, July 16. Event details can be found online here.”
