“Today, I introduced legislation to create new rules for electronic scooter/bike operators, users, and @DDOTDC. The first tweets on the bill focused on one particular provision, while the legislation is actually a rather broad bill with many components. (This is a long thread)

Electric scooters and bicycles produce multiple benefits for the District: reducing congestion and our carbon footprint, plus they’re fun for users. However, with these benefits have come significant challenges. (more…)

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Bicycle) offense that occurred on Monday, June 24, 2019, in the 1100 block of 19th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 2:20 pm, the suspect and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation at the listed location. During the altercation, the suspect threatened the victim, struck the victim with a bicycle and made homophobic slurs towards the victim. (more…)

Ed. Note: I stopped by to get these photos yesterday and it was the biggest emergency response I have ever seen. These photos don’t do justice to how many responders where there. There were at least two ladder truck, 3 or 4 pumper trucks, multiple police cars, and other fire department vehicles.
