I know it’s not quite as swank as some entries, but maybe would be considered under the sentimental category? This sweet ’86 Crown Victoria Ltd was recently towed away to be donated to NPR. Originally purchased new by my grandfather, he died six months later. It was then my grandmother’s car (where near the end was the proverbial little old lady’s car in a garage) until she gave it to me in 2007. It was me and my wife’s primary vehicle until last month, when the fact of two young children and an unfixable AC meant she needed to be retired.
Two fun facts: First, our second child was nearly born in her plush red back seat as I barreled down Beach Drive on the way to GW hospital (elapsed time from our house in Petworth to the birth in the hospital: 26 minutes).
Second, named in honor of my grandmother, she has her own theme song. Black Betty will be missed.”
