Small update on The Ministry Coffee and Wine Bar that we first learned about back in September 2017. The liquor license placard says:
“A new Tavern and cafe serving coffee, sandwiches, pastries, small plates and artisanal cocktails. Seating capacity of 55 inside. Total Occupancy Load of 150. Sidewalk Café with 20 seats. License will include an Entertainment Endorsement.”
Updates as they get closer to opening.

Ed. Note: The Gods seem to enourage your participation as the temp is looking like a mild 70+ degrees. Finally!

I wanted to let you know that today The Wilderness Society erected a 10-foot-tall working Oil Rig on the National Mall in front of tourists, cherry blossoms, and Washington Monument in support of their Too Wild to Drill campaign.
As you know, energy companies already have claim to more land than they can use — of the 27 million acres currently under lease, more than half are sitting idle. Giving away some of our last remaining wild places for the oil industry’s short-term gain is unconscionable right now.
The demonstration, was meant to remind visitors that public lands belong to all of us, not just the extractive industry. We must come together to protect our wildest places for future generations, not allow drilling to permanently destroy them. “

I own a row house in Park View and was just informed by my neighbor that he plans to turn his unit into 2 condos (of course) meaning major construction, an additional floor, deck etc and basement which will need to be excavated. While we want to be reasonable this likely means a big inconvenience for our future renters. Are there any renters or owners out there that have gone through something like this? Any lessons learned or recommendations? Will we likely have to discount our rental price?”

Thanks to Jamie for sending from The Verge:
“Uber bought a bike-share company. The ride-hailing company announced on Monday that it will acquire Jump, the New York City-based e-bike startup that has been working with Uber for two months on a pilot to integrate bike-sharing options into Uber’s app…The size of the deal was not disclosed, though, as TechCrunch reported last week, Jump was weighing a $100 million offer from Uber or a new venture investment round.”
