“Dear PoPville,

What are the best/most interesting/most unique places to take an out-of-town visitor to DC? I love to take people to the National Arbroteum, the Franciscan monastery, Kenilworth Gardens, Roosevelt Island….Beyond the museums/Mall/Zoo/Capitol Building, I’d love to hear what other PoPville readers think is cool/noteworthy/fun and worthwhile for residents and visitors alike! I would typically also be taking visiting friends on a brewery/distillery tour, but my visiting friend is pregnant so that’s off the table (this time, at least!).”

Thanks to Topher for sending another great shot of the White Whale this week.

If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife around town, lunching or otherwise, and get a good photo please send in an email where you spotted it to [email protected] and I’ll add it to the queue. Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.

The following was written by PoPville contributor David McAuley, founder of Short Articles about Long Meetings.

A man living in a converted carriage house in a Mount Vernon Square alley told Advisory Neighborhood Commission 6E/Shaw February 6 that he had to have his important mail delivered to a friend in Virginia “because my faith is so low” in the postman’s ability to find his house. (more…)
