So I was walking down H Street, NE earlier this week and I over heard some old school folks chatting about this topic. Unfortunately I was running late and wasn’t to stop. But as I was trailing out of earshot one man was vehement that 4th and L Street, NE was the center of it all.
For many years I would say it was 14th and U Street, NW (really 11th and U) but given how much the District has changed in the last 10 years I just don’t know anymore. So I’ll throw it out to you guys. Where is the center of it all, where is the heart of the city circa 2017?
Thanks to Matt for sending above: “I guess someone wanted to protect their ride home from the grocery store.”

“Mayor Muriel Bowser and Metro General Manager/CEO Paul J. Wiedefeld today announced that Metrorail will remain open an additional hour tonight for fans attending the Nationals/Cubs game at Nationals Park, as well as the grand opening of The Wharf development in Southwest DC, thanks to Exelon and Pepco.
The cost of the extended service – $100,000 – is being funded by Exelon, the parent company of Pepco.
After Metro’s regular closing time, four stations — Navy Yard-Ballpark, Waterfront, L’Enfant Plaza and Capitol South – will remain open for “entry only.” All other Metro stations will be available for “exit only.” (more…)
