“What food trucks are people talking about these days? I work at L’Enfant where we have a lot of trucks out front each day but the quality and options seems to have tanked. For every 1 good one there are about 9-10 mediocre to terrible ones.”
So what the hell happened? Saturated market? Too long lines? Better brick and mortar options for lunch? What are the good food trucks left that you genuinely enjoy?
Jesus Christ, I think they are judging me. In their underwear! It’s not even particularly nice underwear, thank you very much. My underwear has whales on it. That’s cool underwear. But damn that look of disdain stings a bit.
Thanks to Cassandra for sending:
“I rode right to my plot in the Upshur Community Garden in Petworth from work and forgot a container for my tomatoes, so had to get a little creative. These are a variety of sun gold, sakura cherry and lemon boy. (Note to fellow cyclists: I only had to bike three short blocks south without wearing my helmet.)”
If you get a great one please send an email to email@example.com with ‘Great Garden Haul’ in the subject line along with a photo and description of your haul including what neighborhood you’re in. Try to get yours in by Labor Day. Thanks!

“We are very excited to share that LADURÉE Georgetown has just announced their official participation in Restaurant Week this summer. For the first time in Ladurée’s illustrious history, diners from near and far can enjoy a decadent 3-course lunch menu for just $22, as well as a 3-course brunch menu for $22.

Last week pretty much every east-west access road between 14th and 16th Streets NW in 16th Street Heights got blocked with a “Local Traffic Only” barricade. What’s happening there? It’s making my commute to and from Baltimore every day even more annoying than usual.”
Ed. Note: I wonder if it’s related to the Emerson Street change we spoke about last week: Change in Traffic Pattern possibly “because Waze was directing more traffic down those blocks”?

“Coming soon to @TheApolloDC!”
The Apollo is also home to, of course, Whole Foods and The Wydown Coffee Bar.
Solid State’s website says:
“Solid State Books will operate as a full-service general interest bookstore with a deep and diverse selection of fiction and non-fiction titles curated to appeal to neighborhood residents of all ages as well as to the many visitors from other parts of DC, Virginia, Maryland, and beyond. Solid State Books will have extensive children’s book and young adult sections to fully serve our smallest readers. Our deep slate of programming will include author readings and signings, children’s story hours, book groups, local interest panels, political conversations and more! To better meet the needs of our clientele, we will also have a coffee bar with a delicious selection of snacks, beer, and wine. We can’t wait to see you in the store!”
Will be interesting to see if that will be some coffee saturation or not?
If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood.

This horse trailer has been parked on 10th St NE just North of K St for more than a week. It was moved once, but only a few feet. The truck towing it has DC tags, but the trailer has Maine tags. It’s taking up at least 2 spots (maybe 3) in an area with little parking to spare, but I assume it’s legal because enforcement MUST have seen it by now. I could see it being here for a day or two while someone moved in or out, but at this point, it seems they’re just storing it here, which is pretty obnoxious if you ask me. According to DC regs, it’s illegal to park a trailer on the street in front of a residence (18-2405.5). But a 311 report was rejected for no violation. Not sure what’s going on there.”
