Foo Fighters will be playing the grand opening of the new music venue, Anthem, in Southwest Waterfront. The show is October 12th.
While this will undoubtedly be a great show, the tickets are $100 – $175 before fees. I love the Foo Fighters and I don’t know how much the band controls ticket prices, but this seems like a jerk move to their fans.”
Since I really have no idea, I’m curious what you guys think – jerk move or not?

I walked by The Shay today and saw that signs have gone up for Argent – a workwear store for women – in the former Kit & Ace space. They’ve already opened a pop-up shop around the corner on 9th above Ride. Glad to see the space won’t be sitting empty for long.”

A reader reports:
“Last night at the ANC 1A meeting, the general manager of Jenkins Capital BBQ (taking over the old Ruby Tuesday spot in Columbia Heights) talked a little about their opening. He said they’re aiming to open very soon, “hopefully” next week.
He said their menu will be traditional barbecue, featuring brisket, pulled pork, chicken, ribs and more (and 7 sides, including mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and collared greens). He also mentioned that they plan on having a 45-seat outdoor area, and a 16-seat bar inside with televisions. (more…)
If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 2 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

The odds of this happening to you are probably like winning the lottery but holy moly.
Not long ago you posted a picture of a sign that appeared at a local playground warning parents of the presence of potentially poisonous snakes, and the resulting thread in part turned into a discussion of whether or not copperhead snakes live in the DC area. Well, fyi, if you haven’t seen this yet, check it out:
“The snake in Christie’s bed was a copperhead, which seldom get longer than three feet. But it was big enough. It had bitten Christie — twice, it turned out.”
