“2:00 pm – 3500 11th Street, NW (11th & Monroe Street Park) C1 reported that S1 approached him and asked to use his cell phone, when he refused S1 grabbed C1 and bit him on his right arm. C1 pushed S1 away, S1 then picked up a brick, put it inside a sock and began swinging the brick at C1, without striking him. S1 threw the brick on the ground and fled the scene on foot.
C1 refused medical treatment.”

“Metro today completed a major capital project to replace six escalators at Woodley Park Station, including the three longest escalators in the District of Columbia.
Metro’s contractor, KONE, replaced the escalators two at a time in succession. The overall project took more than two years to complete, including site preparation, demolition and removal of the old escalators, installation of complex gantries and cranes to move the new escalators and supporting structures into place, as well as testing and tuning.
“Metro’s infrastructure is aging and this is another example of the kind of investment that is needed across the system to provide customers with good, safe and reliable service,” said Metro General Manager/CEO Paul J. Wiedefeld. “Before being replaced, these escalators were more than 30 years old and beyond their useful life. With these brand-new escalators customers will see the improvement.”

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 2 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

Not sure if you have seen these but someone posted a few of these signs around 34th and Porter a few days ago. Hopefully they can find a witness.”
I have a flat, white roof with no tree cover. It is routinely flown over by the presidential helicopters carrying the President as well as other VIPs. And news helicopters. And police helicopters. It would make a great spot to make my feelings known about policy to some pretty important people. Is there any rule in DC against painting messages on rooftops that are visible only to aircraft and satellites? If someone wanted me to paint a message for their organization and I accepted money to compensate me for the expense of cleaning off their message when done, would that be an issue? I suppose I would have to get a permit from DCRA for something…but I’m not sure what. It would be great to earn some money doing this, but I’d be willing to do it for free too.”
