Miriam’s Kitchen Got 970 Metro cards after the Inauguration and the Women’s March

Metro-cards
via Miriam’s Kitchen: “We received 970 Metro cards after the Inauguration and the Women’s March. One of them is helping Tesfay get to his next doctor’s appointment.”

Thanks to Ashley Lusk (who’s original tweet mentioning the idea went viral) for the update from Miriam’s Kitchen:

“After the Inauguration and the Women’s March, we asked people to donate unneeded Metro cards to us so that we could help guests get to critical appointments. We were absolutely amazed by the response. You helped share the post so that it reached more than 795,000 people. To date, we have received 970 Metro cards from as far away as Hawaii, California, Montana, Oregon, and Texas. Additionally, many donors included warm messages of hope as well as additional support.

We have been so touched by the sense of community and good will that people across the nation have shown to our guests and our efforts to end long-term homelessness in our nation’s capital. Tesfay Yegzaw is an MK guest who recently lost his job and has limited funds. Your kindness has helped him get to his next doctor’s appointment. Thank you so much.”

I may have overestimated a bit but this is simply awesome. If you would like to donate to Miriam’s Kitchen you can always do so here.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
