The roof of the porch doesn’t match the roof for the rest of the house. The only good reason I can think of is that maybe it’s tinted glass. But even if it is… it just doesn’t look right.

I actually like the metal porch roof. The different textures (metal porch roof, dark grey shaker shingles, stone porch, regular roof shingles, wood columns) play really well together. It is definitely outside the norm in DC housing and probably a love it/ hate it feature.

Also, I am in love with the shower in their master bath. That stall is probably as big as my master bathroom.

I am no expert, but it looks like a metal roof. My guess is they used it on the porch so snow doesn’t stick to prevent a lot of weight from staying up there in the winter. Metal roofs are expensive (but they last way longer), so that is probably why they didn’t do the entire house. You see things like this up north, but not sure we get enough snow to justify it here.

Eh, the whole house looks too busy and poorly proportioned. The metal roof isn’t high on my list of aesthetic grievances all things considered.

The protruding/quasi-bay window thing in the back also looks wrong/cheap. For $2.195M I’d expect better.

Wow, everyone is so picky – I think this house is gorgeous. It’s just sad it’s over $2 million. Maybe one day I’ll live somewhere I can buy a similar house for 1/3 the price…

Well, it’s a $2 million house. Damn straight I’m going to be picky!

    • ET

I think that buyers in the price bracket are likely to be way, WAY pickier than anyone here.

  • TG

I live close to this neighborhood and love the location a lot. You have virtually everything you need within a five minute walk of this house. No, I am not the seller. It seems priced somewhat high to me but my knowledge of the market is not up to date.

Masterpieces don’t need to be wrapped in luxury or style. They’re masterpieces.
“Wrapped in luxury” does not sound luxurious.
“Wrapped in style” does not sound stylish.

This makes me think of Pepper LaBeija saying “Opulence!”
