OMG I would buy that in a heartbeat. That place is a steal at any price.
    .
Wish the photos were higher res so I could get a good luck at the pottery collection.

It’s a great price for such a large lot within the city boundaries. A developer would carve this up into 5 parcels.
The interiors are a little outdated, but it has lovely bones. Those windows are great.

Plug the address into Zillow and you can see larger, higher-res shots. I just spent quite some time on the slide show, salivating and fantasizing.

How do you afford 30k in taxes on top of everything else? :(

    • wdc

Wouldn’t even make a dent in the interest income from your powerball win, even after you pay the taxes on the winnings, buy the house, buy another couple houses, buy matching Teslas for all residents, take an ultra luxury six month cruise around the world, etc.

  • Suse

That was the home of John and June Hechinger. http://articles.latimes.com/2004/jan/20/local/me-passings20.1
    …end of an era.

  • That’s a super cool house, those windows are the bees knees kid.

  • LittleBluePenguin

    Gorgeous landscaping!

  • Anon

    That’s one unfortunate last name.

    • saf

      I thought that too.

A Gropius house is pretty rare. He’s the founder of the Bauhaus movement.
This really is an absurdly low price for an architectural gem on such a big lot. I hope it’s protected. This is the equivalent of buying a Frank Lloyd Wright property (but even rarer since Gropius primarily built in Europe).

      • Q

+1 (But his name does still sometimes make my inner 5-year-old giggle.)

Beautiful …. it’d be nice if I were a millionaire.
